Barbara
Barbara has more than 20 years’ experience in financial services. Starting her career at Barclays, worked her way up to a branch manager. In 2014 Barbara left the lender side of the industry and set up her own independent mortgage and protection advisor firm in Cambridgeshire. This was to move back to be client facing and helping clients achieve their property goals.
Barbara has specialised in complex residential mortgages, personally owned Buy to Let mortgages, as well as all Personal and Business Protection, and particularly enjoys helping company directors save money on the life insurance.
In 2021, Barbara on returning to Norfolk, merged her firm with Thomas Henri to create Nest Finance to ensure her growing client base could be looked after on the commercial mortgage side as well. As part of this merger a new admin hub and branch office was set up in North Walsham in North Norfolk.
Today Barbara as a Director of Residential Mortgages at Nest Finance also manages the entire admin team.
Barbara loves her animals especially her ex-race horses one of which was ridden by A.P. McCoy. In a previous role in F1 at Minardi’s head office fulfilled a life-long ambition to meet Fernando Alonso.
Thomas
Thomas grew up in Melbourne, Australia and completed a Banking & Finance degree at La Trobe university. After setting up a short term letting business in Melbourne and Sydney in the late 1990’s he moved to the UK in 2001 to play cricket. Deciding to move permanently to London he built up a service business and sold out to a supplier in 2016. After being let down by a commercial broker while buying a commercial property at auction he decided to return to the finance and property industries and open an independent Commercial Mortgage Advisory firm. Thomas founded Nest Finance London in 2019 and merged with Barbara’s company in 2021 to create Nest Finance. Thomas continues to specialise in bridging, development finance and commercial mortgages alongside Ltd company buy to lets and High Net Wealth mortgages.
Thomas is an independent expert in auction finance, having bought at auction several times and assisting many clients to do so. His knowledge of complex commercial properties is enhanced by the fact that he has personal experience of title splits, gaining planning permission for large development of 11flats and completing three back to brick renovations.
Thomas has played cricket and Australian Rules Football for Monash University and University of NSW. In the UK played in Hereford and at Shepherds Bush CC in the Middlesex league. He remains a passionate Sth Melb – Sydney Swans supporter and is hoping they will lift the premiership cup in 2024.
